The Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools was incorporated in 1988 by concerned citizens and educators who recognized the need to enhance educational opportunities for Billings students. Through endowments, scholarships, grants, and specific projects, the Foundation provides financial resources for students and educators in Billings Public Schools. Additionally, the Foundation serves as a community partner with both our community and schools to support opportunities for volunteers, mentors, and community engagement. The mission of the Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools is to provide support to educators and students through philanthropy, connection, and collaboration. We strive to give all students the tools they need to reach their greatest potential and to develop into engaged and productive citizens.
The Foundation works in cooperation with the public school system, but operates independently. The Education Foundation is overseen by a volunteer board of directors comprised of community leaders. The Foundation’s major programs and activities include Saturday Live, Classroom Grants, Scholarships, Reading Rocks, Partners in Education, and special projects to improve student learning in our classrooms.

Executive Director Position:
- Bachelor of Science or Arts in Marketing, Communications, Business, Education, or related field.
- Fundraising background.
- Strong communication skills, including oral presentation and written skills.
- Experience in event planning.
- Experience in program development.
- Prefer experience and knowledge involving the business community in Billings.
- Highly self-directed.
- Strong people skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Computer literate (use of Microsoft Office Suite, email etiquette, internet, social media)
Roles and Responsibilities
Fundraising
- Researches, makes recommendations to the board, and seeks new funding
- Fundraises through Event sponsors (Saturday Live, Educator for a Day, Salute to Education), annual appeal, programs and special projects (Classroom Grants, Reading Rocks, Identified special projects etc.) SUV raffle drawing and other items.
- Writes and/or coordinates the writing of grant proposals.
- Meets with individuals and corporate representatives regarding EFBPS support.
- Works directly with donors in establishing long term gifts.
- Develops a fundraising plan.
Administration
- Recruits and supervises Foundation volunteers and paid staff as directed by the Board
- Administers the Foundation’s programs (scholarships, Classroom Grants, Partners in Education).
- Coordinates preparation of monthly income and expense reports.
- Coordinates accounting detail with accountant to ensure accurate reports.
- Implements office procedures impacting donor development (accurate recording of gifts, acknowledgments, data base, mailings)
- Provides monthly and as needed financial reports to board members.
Communications
- Plans, organizes and contributes to the newsletters and promotional materials and oversees quality and timely publication.
- Assures regular communication with and appropriate recognition of donors.
- Represents the Foundation in the community and state.
- Prepares and maintains an annual report and historical statistical analyses to monitor and evaluate growth of the Foundation.
Special Events
- Oversees coordination of special events
- Saturday Live, Educator for a Day, Salute to Education, Reading Rocks, some involvement in Golden Apple Banquet.
- Other special donor connection/engagement events connected to special projects. (for example CTE programs, Project Lead The Way, etc)
- Check presentations and donor recognition events.
Planning
- Participates in overall planning with the Foundation Board of Directors and implements policies established by the Foundation Directors.
- Develops and revises strategic plans.
Misc.
- Other duties as directed by the Board of Directors.
- Attends appropriate education programs to upgrade skills.
Executive Director Position:
- Competitive Salary: Salary range $41,000 - $53,000 on a 1520 hr calendar versus 2080
- Benefits: Paid vacation and retirement option
- Anticipated hours - 32 hours/week for 40 weeks (school year) and 20 hours/week for 12 weeks (summer)
