Under Pressure: The Evolution of the School Principal

The role of the principal has shifted from “head teacher” to a complex hybrid of CEO, social worker, and middle manager.  Standing between the high-level demands of the district leadership and the daily realities of the school building, today’s principals are under unprecedented pressure.  This discussion pulls back the curtain on how the role has changed and what it takes to lead a modern school through constant systemic shifts.

By “walking in the shoes” of our principals and staff, you’ll gain a new perspective on the daily heartbeat of Billings Public Schools.

The Day’s Highlights:

  • The Lightning Round: This is your chance to get personal! Principals will move table-to-table for candid, small-group discussions to close out the day.
  • The Experience: You’ll start the day with guided tours of our school buildings.
  • The Conversation: We’ll meet at the Paper Mill for lunch and a comfortable couch discussion. Our panel of principals will provide an honest look at the changing landscape of education.

Date: Thursday, February 12th
Time: 9:00 am-1:00 pm
Location: Paper Mill & schools across Billings
