Educator Scholarships
The Foundation manages scholarship funds for both students and educators. Several different scholarship committees comprised of community members review scholarship applications each spring. Scholarships are awarded at the end of each school year in mid-April.
Below is a list of the educator scholarships available for 2024. Applications are being accepted through our online application portal which may be accessed by clicking here.

Online Application Process:
The applications for the Education Foundation managed scholarships listed above are all available online. Below are the steps to log on and apply for a scholarship. If you have any questions or need assistance please email Foundation@BillingsSchools.org or contact your guidance counselor.

Foundation Educator Scholarships Available (details for each scholarship are listed in the application portal):
- Jim Rickard Scholarship (~$500)
- Mr. Rickards's personal concern is to encourage growth in the following areas: recognition and valuing of potential in a variety of areas, recognition of teaching as an interactive process, development of new assessment techniques, and provision of educational options for high potential students.
- Kathy Hill Memorial Outstanding Leadership Award ($500)
- The Leadership Award provides funds for educators serving students in kindergarten through 8th grade to improve their leadership skills. This could range from sending an educator to a leadership conference/course to brining in a motivational speak to a school to work with educators.
- Leonardo Smith Diversity Award ($1,000)
- The Leonardo Smith Award provides funds for educators and students to advance their understanding and respect for issues involving sexual orientation including lesbian, gay, trans-sexual, and bi-sexual issues. Examples of these awards could be: sending an educator or student to a conference/course, purchasing materials to enhance a school club or school classroom regarding sexual orientation issues, or supporting club activities that promote understanding that promote understanding of sexual orientation issues.
- Roger Eble Scholarship ($1700)
- Created in 1990 by the community to honor the late Superintendent of Billings Public Schools, the fund provides incentives for BPS educators to improve their skills in teaching children with unusual or challenging learning problems.
- Terry Bouck Educator Leadership Award ($500)
- Grant is intended to enhance and supplement the adopted District curriculum. A project that includes educator training is acceptable. More than one grant proposal can be submitted from each school, and educators may collaborate on more than one proposal for separate/independent projects.
- Kathy Olson Education Scholarship Award ($500)
- The goal of this scholarship is to provide educators with an opportunity to submit requests for financial support for staff and professional development. This could include: recognition of teaching as an interactive process, assistance for teachers in bridging educational theory and practice, or enhancing professional learning communities to prepare educators for the 21st century learners.

The applications for the Education Foundation managed scholarships listed above are all available online. Below are the steps to log on and apply for a scholarship. If you have any questions or need assistance please email Foundation@BillingsSchools.org or contact your guidance counselor.
- To begin the online application process, visit this website: https://www.grantinterface.com/Process/Apply?urlkey=billings
- Scroll down to select the scholarship you would like to apply for.
- After reading the scholarship description, please select “To apply please click here.”
- As a first-time user to the online application process, please select “create a new account”.
- You will need to complete only the questions that have asterisk*.
- Please complete “Your Information”. Continue to the “Next Step”.
- At the set password screen, create your password and “Finish”.
- Follow the directions on the Application Status Page to begin the application process.
- Select the scholarship you wish to apply for and complete the application.
- When the application is completed, click “submit form”.
- If you would like to save your application and return to complete it, select “save as draft”. To return to your application you would follow the above steps but login as a current user with your email and password.
