investing in 21st century education
Teaching:
Teaching becomes mentoring and collaborating instead of imparting wisdom. Today students have the opportunity to learn from not only their teacher, but community members, experts in their field of study, or students across the globe.
Connections:
Classrooms of the future will be connected to the community and the world through physical and virtual internet affiliations. Students, teachers and other stakeholders will be connected through digital tools at all times of the day, in some cases allowing classes to be accessed in live by parents and others over the internet.
Learning:
The learning process will no longer be confined to the physical constraints of a typical classroom setting or the limitations of a time-structured day.
Learners use a variety of tools to communicate, schedule, problem-solve, create, and publish a body of work. Learners not only choose the tool for the best results, but also choose the end product. Students, teachers, parents and community members all become learners because all are working together toward a common goal.
Investing:
Providing funding for classroom interactive technology, individual devices for students, and digital media tools to engage students and support learning. Our students will be enabled, engaged, and empowered not only for learning, but for their future careers.
